The Education Committee of Citizens for 1 Greater New Orleans is committed to improving public education in Orleans Parish. We support the reforms that have increased school performance scores since the state take-over of the failing schools after Katrina.
Our goal is to be effective advocates for excellence in public education. To further this goal, the committee meets twice a month to hear from local and state leaders in public education and to discuss issues in areas of interest and concern.
The Committee also attends BESE meetings, Legislative Committee Meetings and community meetings where education issues are discussed. When necessary, the Committee will take a position on matters of importance and will advocate before BESE and the Louisiana Legislature.
